My Project

Third grade Tiger Scholars at Cascade Elementary are resilient!! They were in Kindergarten at the onset of the Pandemic. Kindergarten students who entered the building excited to learn, see their teacher everyday, share with their friends had their lives interrupted by a force greater than they could imagine……Fast forward to 2023 these 3rd grade students are here every day excitedly learning, making tremendous gains but still suffering from monumental learning losses as a result of virtual school.

As we prepare for the end of the year grade level assessments we need tremendous reading and writing experiences to help us to demonstrate proficiency.

Reading and writing are phenomenal skill building activities. Using the reading materials requested students will read and use the texts as models to create their own books using the Book Creator app. As they create the headphones will allow them to listen to their written text and edit as needed. Once each student has created a book then they can create a class shelf to share their texts. These learning experiences will increase vocabulary, help them produce clearly written texts and give them pride in producing a book. When students have the opportunity to listen to what they have written the editing is phenomenal. They can self-correct, improve vocabulary and benefit from peer editing. Once the books are created they can share with members of their class. This will provide such positive reinforcement and help to build a memorable experience of writing and reading.
