This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from very low-income families in a rural area about forty minutes from the nearest urban city. Despite coming from a limited socio-economic background, they are excited for learning and the fun we have everyday.

For many of my Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students, this is their first formal year of schooling.

They are open to trying new things and expanding the horizons of their understanding. They are joyful, endearing and inquisitive for all I can provide for them this year!

My Project

There are many supplies and materials used in a Kindergarten classroom each day, and mine is no exception. These materials are the basic needs of my students for the school year. The pencils, erasers, dry erase markers, crayons, and pencil sharpener in this project will be used everyday to practice handwriting, color pictures, complete math work, and writing. One way they will use the pencils and erasers is to practice their writing skills during writers workshop. They will use the expo markers on whiteboards to practice writing letters, numbers, and their name. The laminating pouches will be used to create new resources, center activities, and learning decor. Some of these will be used in math and literacy centers where students used small laminated cards to sort and solve puzzles.

All the supplies in this project are used daily to help my students succeed.

Many of my students' families cannot provide these materials for their child. Your support will allow each student to start the year on the right foot with all the necessities. They will feel included and successful because they have the basic tools to learn and explore.
