My Students

My students learn at their own pace. They drive their instruction based on where they are, not where the teacher is teaching. My school is located next to a cow pasture, but we don't just stand around mooing. We are taking charge of our learning and growing by leaps and bounds. Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”

My Project

My students learn best with hands-on games and learning experiences. They practice math skills by sorting and classifying shapes or completing task cards around the room. They learn science by creating food webs or making models of the solar system. In social studies, we create timelines of events and build scenes from wars. In language arts, we sort character traits and build complex sentences.

A laminator and pouches will help make the games that we create every day last throughout the year and for years to come.

The materials that the students work so hard on would have more meaning and be used for more practice.
