My students need new fiberglass handle 8 oz hammers for assembling various projects we do in the applied tech shop.

My Students

Students who take applied technology (shop) in middle school are introduced to a hands-on Career and Technical Education semester course. During the semester students are introduced to a variety of tools and skills needed to accomplish projects that focus on the design process of brain storming, designing, testing and improve.

Students are exposed to a variety of power tools such as band saws, scroll saws, sanders, CNC routers, laser engravers, 3D printers.

They also use hand tools such as hammers, saws, wire cutters, solder irons and rulers.

My Project

In Applied Technology, we design and manufacture a variety of projects. We do a major unit in wood working each year and apply algebra and geometry concepts while building book cases, nickel hockey boards and other projects from wood.

We used to use wood handle 8 oz hammers but the wood shaft shrinks and the hammer head becomes loose and in danger of coming off.

It becomes difficult for students to use. We have had to discard these hammers and want to replace a class set with fiberglass handle hammers.

This will help approximately 300 students during the school year.
