This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am in the process of building my library classroom in a new school. The books I currently have are limited in perspective and point of view - in other words, many of my students of color are unable or unwilling to continue reading stories where there is no shared experience or voice. The texts provided to us lack cultural sensitivity and awareness. Therefore, I would love to have a classroom library full of the books that my students are eager to explore. I’d love to build and foster a love for reading for all.
