My students need 1 laminating machine, 1 pack of laminating pouches, and 3 label machines for published final drafts. We celebrate every Unit and I believe it is very pertinent that I laminate!
Have you ever written a final composition and wanted to share your masterpiece essay? It makes children ecstatic to have their writings celebrated! Writing compositions are extremely difficult, and we must acknowledge and recognize their accomplishments. Lamination and labeling shows we truly care.
I teach at a middle school in the central part of a city in Louisiana.
My 5th grade students are very diverse and unique. My middle school is Title 1 funded which means we have a higher poverty rate. Our school is very different than most middle schools because were are in the central part of a city and have many different cultures, races, and issues faced by classroom teachers today. Many children literally come to school without proper materials or funds a lot of the time. Although many report to school not prepared, I will give them what they need for my Writing and Word Study class. However, the laminating and label machine I requested I cannot afford on my own. I believe it can be super beneficial their final publications and celebrations! I just want to afford them the opportunity to laminate and publish their prized possessions! It is ALL ABOUT CELEBRATING THEIR WORK(LUCY CALKINS). THIS LETS THEM KNOW THEIR WORK MATTERS!
My Project
I am requesting 1 laminating machine, 1 pack of laminating pouches, and 3 label machines for published final drafts.
After drafting and writing, my students will be able to laminate their final publication for every unit of the Writing Workshop. The resources I requested would allow them to save and label all the essays, strategies, and group projects I've taught them in my class. Labeling is for the Writing Notebook for organization. The laminating materials are beneficial for celebrating their work. They will learn organizational skills and feel proud with laminated (saved) work. This would be a keep-sake item as well!
The donations for this specific project will definitely benefit my class because they will be more organized and their work will be published and laminated for viewing!
People don't realize the importance of organizing notebooks and laminating their work. Children love to see their work in a glossy laminated finished product. It becomes a different piece of writing!
