This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a Title 1 school in high poverty section of our city. They are Special Education students who are willing to work hard to complete their high school requirements.

I am proud of their accomplishments and impressed by their creativity.

They always come through when I ask them to complete projects that will earn the class funds for our field trips. They have already raised $200 for this field trip by participating in coding projects. They all were able to complete the required assignments.

My Project

We are rewarding students who have maintained their academic success and who also helped raise funds by coding. This field trip will include using public transportation to the ice rink. At the arena, they will learn how to skate on ice. They will also work on their balance and coordination while developing confidence in attempting new activities.

My students will come away from this field trip knowing that ice skating is a beneficial physical activity for providing healthy exercise and enjoyment.

Hopefully, they will also realize that fear should not prevent them from challenging themselves. These challenges can bring opportunities that are attainable.
