Your support of our \"Title 1 Special Education Motivating Rewards\" project, funded on February 10, 2026, has already begun to transform the daily experience of our Bulldogs.\r\n\r\nThe Spark of Joy\r\nThe day the boxes arrived was one I wish you could have seen firsthand. When my students first saw the mountain of supplies—from the colorful Play-Doh and highlighters to the stacks of Oreo cookies and beef jerky—the room was buzzing with excitement. For many of our students, these aren't just \"supplies\"; they are tangible signs that their hard work is recognized and valued. One student specifically pointed to the granola bars and Cheez-Its and said, \"Now we have the good fuel for our big brains!\"\r\n\r\nHow We Are Using Your Gifts\r\nIn our classrooms, success is measured by the first time a student masters a new life skill or finds the confidence to participate. We are integrating these resources in very specific ways:\r\n\r\nPositive Reinforcement: We use the fruit snacks, snack bars, and Oreo cookies as immediate motivators for completing difficult tasks. For a student working through a challenging sensory transition, having a preferred snack waiting for them makes all the difference.\r\n\r\nSensory & Academic Tools: The Play-Doh has become a vital tool for fine motor development and \"brain breaks,\" while the sticky notes and highlighters are helping our visual learners track their daily schedules.\r\n\r\nA Cared-For Environment: Having a steady supply of tissues, disinfecting wipes, band-aids, and printing paper ensures that our focus remains on learning rather than logistics. It creates a dignified, well-equipped space where students feel safe and cared for.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for Our Bulldogs\r\nWe are currently in the middle of a \"Goal-Getter\" challenge. Students are using their new pens and pencils to track their individual behavioral and academic milestones on a classroom chart. As they reach their weekly targets, they get to \"shop\" the reward bin you helped fill. This project is teaching them the invaluable lesson of delayed gratification and the direct link between effort and reward.\r\n\r\nBecause of supporters like you, our students are reminded that their community believes in them. You aren't just funding a program; you are investing in the independence and dignity of some of the most resilient young people in San Jose.\r\n\r\nThank you for making a world of difference at San Jose High School and for brightening our Bulldogs' future.","fullyFundedDate":1770775183460,"projectUrl":"project/title-1-special-education-motivating-rew/10090988/","projectTitle":"Title 1 Special Education Motivating Rewards","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Valerie LaFountain","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10431732"},{"teacherId":6822461,"projectId":9582250,"letterContent":"The students have greatly appreciated the snacks you have donated. Coming to school hungry is a daily challenge for some, and they often face the decision between having breakfast before classes or waiting until a later brunch more than an hour and a half after the school day starts.
