My Students

Technology has changed the way our students learn. It is engaging and interactive, it encourages participation, and it provides immediate feedback. By making technology routinely accessible and usable to my first graders, I will help prepare them not just for the future, but for today.

My first graders come from various cultures and backgrounds.

Almost half of my students speak more than one language and we are a Title 1 school. We learn that while we are all different in many ways, we are also the same in many ways. My students LOVE coming to school each and every day. They pour their hearts into learning and teaching them is a joy and honor.

My Project

Having iPods in our classroom will put technology in my students' hands. They will use educational apps on the iPod to support their reading and math goals throughout the year. I plan to use the iPods daily. Currently, we have two computers in our classroom and with 25 students, it takes a long time to rotate through the class roster so everyone has a chance to have a turn. Adding two iPods will help reach more students in less time.

As a first grade teacher I am tasked with the job of teaching foundational skills, as well as challenging students who are already meeting grade-level standards.

Providing my students with activities that are engaging, interactive, and appropriate for all of my little learners will be a great gift and will support my ambition to create life-long learners!
