My Students

Individually, we are one drop. Together we are an ocean. -Ryunosuke Satoro. This is the vision I have for my students and new classroom. I want to provide my students with that quiet place they not only can think, read and create individually, but have the opportunity to do so with others.

Since I have taught some of these students previously, I know I will have a diverse group of second graders who are fun loving, imaginative, motivated, and who have a love for learning.

My students are hard workers! Having this quiet space (rug) to work independently, with a partner, or in a small group will help students to interact with others from different backgrounds, cultures and experiences which helps to build community in our classroom.

My Project

A classroom rug will not only compliment the Book Nook area I am envisioning, but it will also provide that perfect area for our morning meetings, carpet direct instruction and other whole class activities. I will use the easel as my students and I collaborate to create important class anchor charts, for modeling, and to display materials we will use during shared reading. The double pocket chart stand will provide a place for me to display center activities and rotations for the day, as well as be used during our making words and other word work type activities.

Donations to this project will help improve my classroom because it will provide a place for my students to read independently, to work collaboratively, and also help to further their learning.
