I Survived!...A View Into a Few Events in Our History

My Students

Despite the challenges these students face outside my classroom, they come to school each day ready to learn something new and need good, quality resources to do so.

I currently teach fourth grade in a Title I school that serves students from diverse backgrounds, many of which receive free or reduced-price lunch and participate in our local food bank's backpack food program.

My class also consists of several ELL/ESL students and students with 504's. My students have few books of their own to read in their own homes.

My Project

Reading is a skill that is practiced daily in my classroom. I am asking for copies of eleven different books from the I Survived series. These engaging books will help to keep students interested and build their fluency and comprehension as they learn the effects of natural disasters and historical events of our past.

Your donation to this project will not only help my students learn about how these disasters and events affected the people who experienced them, but also how they helped to shape our present and our future.

Students will be able to read about and discuss the effects of these events with each other and in turn develop stronger comprehension and communication skills
