My Project
As a STEM teacher, I have the opportunity to see 9 different classes throughout a school week. All children are different, however this year each class has something in common: they are in love with the idea of opening an ice cream shop! Through this common interest, I have been able to teach concepts such as adding and subtracting money, friendly customer service, and being a kind co-worker.
I have seen that even the most hesitant child becomes enthusiastic about our classroom ice cream shop and I would like to add additional centers that can extend this theme and reach additional skills and subjects.
It is an incredible experience to be able to create opportunities for my students in which they can learn, explore and discover new skills, strategies and phenomenon.My students are from diverse backgrounds and many are English language learners. For many of my students, I am their first introduction to the school experience and my goal is to create an environment where it is safe, exciting and fun to learn.
