This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an enthusiastic and fun group of typical English speakers, English Language Learners and Special Education Kindergarten students. My students are curious and eager about learning and for many it is their first experience in an educational setting. We are in a school with limited resources that serves a high poverty and transient population of families from many different countries. Many of my students' families do not have the means or resources at home to provide the educational practice needed to be successful.

My Project

My students need headphones for laptops to work on I-Ready for ELA and Math. My Kindergarten classroom received a number of laptops for students to work on a program called I-Ready for English Language Arts and Math. The program is lesson based and individualized. My students need headphones in order to get their lessons done and avoid the distraction of the many lessons going on at once. Having the students on headphones also help with the noise level in the classroom while I provide small group instruction to my students. I am really excited to be able to provide this tool in my classroom and see my students get the target lessons that they need to continue to succeed.
