This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are diverse: their beliefs, backgrounds, learning styles and emotional/social behaviors. Irene is humble, and extremely intelligent; she’s Latino. Merles is a scholar athlete; he’s African American: sensitive & strong. Ronae is my class leader, she is a visual learner; supportive of all of her peers, and of me. Never boisterous. Each child has his/her story. Myles is a twin; their mom died when they were little. They are strive to collaborate; they are inquisitive; hardworking; fearless; Loving! Stellar!
My Project
My students vocabulary, reading stamina, and joy of reading improve each time they open a book and immerse themselves in one. They become less afraid of reading for quizzes and test, and more curious about others, and imaginative about creating their own texts. Further, my Advanced Placement Language and Composition students who have no prior background knowledge with AP receive the texts they need to supplement when they skipped AP Literature. My students also read independently, and I am looking forward to them picking up these books on their own. “I Read” is exploration; it is life-long learning. Thank you!
