My students need 32 books that catch their interest, hold their attention and, best of all, help them expand their world of fiction.

I am the library assistant for a high school campus that is home to 3 small schools, a night school program and does not have the money to afford a Librarian.

We have a great library but sadly when it comes to more up to date or modern fiction I don't have the budget to buy new books. We are campus that has many students who live at or below the poverty line. That make trying to do book sales, or other fundraisers pretty much impossible. Every day I have kids ask me for books we don't have and I can't buy. Many of the students have dreams of going on to college and getting away from the life of poverty they grew up in. Reading no matter what kind of book can help children reach those goals. We know that books can stimulate the imagination, help build vocabulary, or even teach a lesson.

I asked the kids to put together a list of books that they would like to see added to the collection. From that list I edited out any that were not age or school appropriate. It is neat to see what kind of books they are interested in.

By donating towards this project you will help ensure that our students have new books that they want to read.
