Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Quite a few students deal with social and emotional trauma on a daily basis outside of school and sometimes that trauma spills over into the classroom.

I would like to create an area so that when a student needs to take a small break from the class to recenter it is available in the classroom.

This area will offer reading pillows, headphones, and manipulatives to help calm, reduce anxiety, and allow the students to peacefully recenter, reenergize, and recharge themselves.

I believe that the chill area along with listening, support, encouragement, and understanding will help students develop calming techniques and return to the learning environment ready to conquer their schoolwork.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
