My Students

Have you ever had a job to finish but you get distracted or procrastinate too much that you don't finish on time? My students have!

I am an Elementary Special Education Resource Room teacher for over 40 students.

My students come from diverse backgrounds and many of them speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, or other languages at home. My students also have either a learning disability, Autism, ADD/ADHD, or other health impairments that make learning that much more of a struggle for them. My students want to learn and they try very hard every day.

My Project

I am requesting "Time Timers" for my Resource Room and for my students to use in their General Education classroom. Many of my students struggle to start their work and to complete it on time. While they are motivated to finish and want to learn, other factors prohibit them from completing work efficiently. When you give students, especially those with ADD or Autism, a visual timer, they can literally see how much time they have to finish their work. The Time Timers are a silent timer so they do not distract other students in the classroom. They also have a red visual that gets smaller as time passes. As students watch the timer, they see that they have less time to complete their work.

I have used time timers with several of my students over the years and they have proven to be successful in over 90% of the cases.
