My Project

Meet Mr. Whiskers — our fourth-grade class hamster, professional sunflower-seed destroyer, part-time napper, and full-time adorable eating machine. My students and I absolutely adore him. Some of the students read to him while they're visiting our calming space. Other students use him to help them practice their math facts. He has become the tiny, furry heartbeat of our classroom.

Mr. Whiskers eats like he’s training for the Hamster Olympics.

We love him dearly, but he goes through food, bedding, treats, and chew toys faster than I ever imagined one five-ounce creature could. So far, I’ve provided everything he needs out of my own pocket, but my students have grown so attached to him that I want to make sure he is always happy, healthy, and well cared for. Keeping him fed and comfortable isn’t just about caring for a pet — it teaches my students responsibility, empathy, and the importance of taking care of something smaller than themselves.

Every donation helps ensure that our tiny classroom companion continues bringing joy, calm, and plenty of giggles to our learning environment
