This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are energetic students that are economically deprived. All students receive free lunch. Most of my students must work in order to help their families pay the bills.
Most of their parents do not have a high school education.
Students are not able to get supplies and oftentimes are not exposed to many educational advantages. As an educator, I try to bring those educational extensions to the classroom. It is imperative that these students be afforded the opportunity to succeed.
My Project
With the mentioned materials, the students will be able to explore how forensic science is used in criminal investigations as well as apply the principles of forensic science to a hypothetical crime.
The students will be able to set up their crime scenes with the footwear analysis kit and usage of the hair and fiber analysis set.
We will able to print out results with the ink that is ordered.
This extraordinary challenge has popularised forensic science in my classroom: it's uniquely poised to situate biology, chemistry and physics in a broader, interdisciplinary framework.
Outlining an experiment's methodology allows students to easily retrace their steps when a practical fails to produce accurate, or the hypothesised, results. It also serves as a measure for me to make sure each investigating group is obtaining similar results when evidence analysis is meant to implicate one suspect.
