I work in a Title I school district. This means that the majority of my students are coming from poor economic backgrounds. I believe school should be their escape. It should be fun and a place where they learn that anything is possible.
It is my goal to expose my students to the generosity of the world.
I have had smaller projects funded through this site. My students were in awe knowing that complete strangers cared about them and their success. My hope is that they will pay your generosity forward in the future.
My Project
I have many 4th and 5th grade students that are non-readers. In order to be successful for the real world, we must get these basic skills solidified. With your help, I would like to put colorful, beautiful, appropriate basic readers in front of these students. I have many Dr. Seuss' and my students love the successful feeling they feel when they pick one up and read! I want to continue this momentum and introduce them to more diverse basic texts. I think they will be really motivated when they see B.O.B. books arrive as well as comic books they can read themselves!!!
