This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach PE to students in grades K-5 in a multicultural school that celebrates diversity. My students enjoy running, racing, biking, bowling, dancing, and tennis. They also enjoy reading, math, and playing foursquare and basketball at recess. We are currently at a temporary location while our school is being remodeled.
Every year, we have a family multicultural night where families bring food and wear traditional clothes to celebrate their culture.
It's a great time to celebrate the diversity at our school.
My Project
My gym has a computer and sound system that works most days. But here and there, music stops playing for one reason or another. I have songs on Spotify, but when the computer doesn't work, I have to use music on YouTube (with too many ads). When the speakers aren't working, we have to go without music or I will sometimes resort to humming very loudly. We need instructional technology that is reliable, portable and easy to use.
Having an iPod, where I can create playlists, will help my students have consistent access to music to motivate them as they gallop, skip, and run in the gym.
Music makes a huge difference. An iPod would help my students have access to music every day.
