Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a school counselor in an impoverished rural area of San Antonio. My school has 100% free breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is a Title I campus. We are a community that is challenged with a great deal of crime, drugs, and poverty. My job changes daily depending on the needs of all my school babies! I love these kids and I am immensely blessed to be in a career where my heart is. Thank you so much for taking a moment to consider helping!
My Project
Will you help me give my students the tools necessary to help them cope with the situations they face in their everyday lives? While kids are resilient, they must be empowered and equipped with the necessary skills to overcome and flourish.
Parental incarceration, familial drug use, divorce, homelessness, poverty, domestic violence, grief, and students who simply don't know how to cope with everyday life are why these resources are badly needed.
By helping fund this project, you will be helping so many kids deal with problems that they are facing on a daily basis. These new books and activities will be used in classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling. Thank you so much for any support you can give to my sweet kiddos!
