Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 4th graders are motivated to learn, are kind, and they work hard. My students face many hardships in their daily lives but as soon as they walk in the classroom, they focus on their learning. Even when something seems difficult, students will persevere through the challenge.
They always make sure their friends/classmates have someone to play with, they work out their issues by talking or seeking help, and they love discussing books.
They care about each other and are amazing human beings!
My Project
The variety of books that I have chosen are sure to inspire my students to keep on reading! They are in the midst of building their reading lives and so they need books that they can get excited about!
As soon as we receive the books, we will do some book tastings/book talks to build excitement around our new books.
I will read aloud the blurb on the back and the first 2 pages to garner excitement about the book. I'll stop at a point where it gets good. The students will beg for me to continue and I'll show them where they can find the book in the library. For these books, there might even be a waiting list!
