I am the lucky 3rd grade teacher of 22 amazing children. Many of these children are English language learners and/or have special needs. They come from very diverse backgrounds but love the adventure of learning new information.
The families in our community come from a hard-working, low income area in Connecticut.
I often don't feel comfortable requesting supplies from our students' parents because most of them are working at least two jobs just to get by. The majority of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many of my students do not have the means to even bring a snack to school.
My students need their own personal set of earbuds to use during tech time for learning their math facts, using our favorite math site- Prodigy, reading online texts, and for use during state testing. Students often complain that they can't keep their sound up because it is distracting for others. With each student having their own personal set, students wouldn't have to worry about this anymore.
If this project is funded, it will give my students the gift of sound!
We currently share headphones that often break or are uncomfortable. Students will be able to have their own set to take with them when they move on from my room. There are multiple sets included in this project which will benefit students for years to come!
