Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges every day, both in and out of the classroom. My students are in a Resource Room Pull Out classroom setting where they receive modifications and accommodations that help them grasp a better understanding of concepts. The best way to understand my students is just like when you are driving a car; you run in to a detour once in a while so, you learn a new way to get to your destination. That is how I teach my kids. Learning new concepts can be challenging for anyone.
My students live in a low income/high poverty area.
They face many challenges on a daily basis just to make it to school and by the time they get to school they have already faced more than many people have in a lifetime.
One thing that I can give my students is a chance to be successful in school. I feel helping them become positive about their education could change their lives. I believe all my students can achieve anything. Making the students want to learn can make all the difference in the world.
My Project
I teach grade 8 Math to special education students. One of the biggest problems my students have is staying organized. Using bins and being able to label them helps them become more organized as well as becoming more independent.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
Having items neatly contained and labeled in my small classroom makes it easier for my students to become more independent and to learn to think on their own. Many students get use to everything being ready for them however, they need to learn how to organize and to get the materials they may need.
