Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 28 eager 4th graders are bookworms and I love it! There's only one slight problem...the organization of our books.
I have students checking out 2 or 3 books at a time from our classroom library. (Don't ask me how they can read them at the same time, but somehow they manage. I am still in awe by their efforts.) When they check out so many books, they often forget where the book is shelved and our library ends up a giant mess. Books are in the wrong section and no one can seem to find the book they want.
Most of my students are far below grade level, so I need to do everything to encourage their reading. I could restrict my students to one book, but I feel this would place limitations on their learning and reading passion. Therefore, I'm seeking 4 sets of durable shelf markers to help my 4th graders improve their organizational skills, ensure each book in its appropriate section, and make checking-out a book an easier process.
I am also asking for 6 sets of bookmarks to maintain my students' reading interest. My 4th graders are always using scratch paper or my post-its to mark their spot, so the new bookmarks would be a nice treat. We will have enough to share the bookmarks with their weekly, first grade reading buddies.
