My Project

My special education students often come to me as struggling readers. I find they may grow their skills by reading worksheets and working with manipulatives, but they find reading a book a daunting task. When they find a book they can read, the excitement they show is beyond description. However, many books designed for early readers are still too difficult for my students.

The "Ready to Read" series books are a perfect fit for my students.

I utilize my local library and check the titles out as often as I can, but having this resource in my classroom library would be a world changer for my students. They love to sit with these books and read to a partner. This is something they can't do well in the general education classroom, as most books cause them to struggle.

These books have opened a world of joy to my young and struggling readers. With these books, students are asking if they can read to me. This fills my heart as most of my students have previously done anything they could to avoid reading.

I would love to have these books available to my students throughout the entire school year.
