In expanding the selection of books in my library, students will be provided the opportunity to read about characters who represent diverse cultures and experiences. They will see themselves mirrored in the stories while also learning about differences and acceptance of others. These books will provide a starting point to promote conversations that will encourage a growing worldview. As students expand their worldview, they will learn that while their are many differences among people, all share a common need for love and acceptance. Empathy will grow, and communities will strengthen.
