My Students

My classroom is full of 23 bright-eyed 1st graders who have their educational future ahead of them. They are full of curiosity and eager to learn. These students are excited and pass on their excitement to others in the room, including me. I love to see their eyes light up when they understand the skill that we are working on.

Each student is unique and brings to the class their own story.

Coming from a low-income area some students have stories that are full of excitement while others are just getting to add adventure to theirs.

My Project

My students are just starting to read. After they read a book, students will take a comprehension test on the book to show what the information they retained from the reading.

Students have goals for themselves and work hard to reach them by getting points for the books they read.

How do they get those points? They take tests. Unfortunately, with 23 students, and one computer, there is a long line of students waiting their turns. For these little ones, waiting a day is a little too long.

That is where the Kindle Fires will come in! The Kindles will allow multiple students to work on meeting their goals at once! The Kindle Fires will also be used to allow students to increase their reading fluency and comprehension by using different apps that will work on those skills.
