My students love being able to hang their backpacks in the back of the room instead of their chairs. It makes it safer for moving about the classroom but also if we have to leave the classroom quickly. My students watched a video conference about the adaptations of owls, learned about the over a dozen types of owls in the Oklahoma/Texas area, as well as, learned about how and what owls eat. Then it was time for the real fun; dissecting owl pellets!\r\n\r\nThe students thought it was so cool that owls eat things whole then throw up what they can't digest. And when I explained they get to dissect this \"throw-up\" they were excited. The activity took us over an hour and students were able to name the bones using their scientific names. I heard many times \"hey, I found a femur\", \"this is the pelvis\", and \"I have an entire skill with a mandible\". \r\n\r\nThis activity brought science to life for my students and we couldn't have done it without your help.
