My Students

I am a regular ed teacher with a new group of first graders coming in August. I teach in a school with wonderful students (over 800!) and an amazing and dedicated staff. I love the enthusiasm these children have for learning. First graders are so entertaining and keep me on my toes daily! I love teaching in a variety of ways and especially through music, dance and motion, as well as games. I believe my students learn better that way.

My Project

Self-amplification is so important to young readers who are developing their skills in reading fluency as well as comprehension! New readers (especially 6-7 year olds) find it very difficult to read silently as they’re learning. Think about how difficult it is, as an adult, to concentrate on what you’re reading when someone else is talking or there’s background noise. Now imagine how difficult it is for a first grader who attempts to read in a classroom full of other readers who all read aloud as they’re practicing their own reading. These handsfree Whisper Phones will make it so much easier!
