Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students reside in a low-income area where 100% of our students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. We are also involved in a weekly pantry service, glasses for kids, and backpack program. We are a large Title l school that educates children from 1st to 6th grade.
My students are eager 6-year-olds that are ready to learn and explore everything that is in front of them.
They are all English language learners that want to be independent readers but need a lot of help along the way.
My students need activities that they can immerse themselves in, be active, and learn from independently. They need to develop their phonemic awareness and build their vocabulary. These activities will help them improve their letter formation skills too.
When my students are using the tablets to read, listen to a story, or take a comprehension quiz, they need to concentrate and need headphones to do just that. A set of comfy durable headphones are needed to be used during our daily center time.
My Project
The comfy, durable headphones will help my first graders focus when they are busy reading stories, engaging in vocabulary lessons, and taking quizzes on their tablet. I would like them to be fully engaged during their technology time and not be distracted by the other activities going on in class during this time.
The fun interactive activities will help my students learn valuable skills needed to develop their vocabulary, reading, and writing skills independently!
They will be able to engage in vocabulary building, writing in complete sentences, and develop their letter formation skills all on their own while having fun.
