Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am the Digital Learning Specialist at a Title I-funded, K-5, public school within the city limits, where much of our student population comes from low-income or single-parent homes.

Our school serves over 500 students.

Regardless of our students' socioeconomic status, I have learned that they all have unique situations related to their education.

Each year I work with students having attention concerns and it can be very difficult for them to stay focused for extended periods of time. I like to find new, innovative ideas to help encourage and support learning for students that I work with. I want all students to wake up each day excited to be a part of our school community!

My Project

Imagine students creating a shoebox diorama of a habitat or sharing artifacts from cultures around the world. These are excellent ways to engage students and encourage learning. However, using a green screen will provide students the opportunity to incorporate technology, using apps, to make their diorama or other projects come to life.

With green screen technology, students can digitally become a part of their project and tell about their adventures and learning.

They can take a picture of their diorama, then upload it to the app. Using green screen technology, students can come to life in the picture and talk about their projects through digital tools. So, with this green screen technology, students can really be any place they dream to be, digitally!
