This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of the children are being raised in single parent homes. I work with students in third through fifth grades in a replacement core reading program, as well as during Intervention time. Many of the students in my group fall two to three years below grade level or are ENL children.

My students have developed a love for reading.....but sometimes their ADHD gets in the way and they are unable to sit to focus on instruction.

It breaks my heart that they lack the parental support to receive help, so I try to teach them coping strategies when they are with me.

My Project

Flexible seating in my classroom has allowed my students to choose seating that works best for them when working. By adding Wobble Chairs to our choices, students will be able to choose a different type of seating to use to help them to focus on instruction.

Wobble chairs will allow students to sit at their desk and work with a peer on an activity.

The Wobble Chairs I have chosen will help my students to be able to work at their desk and focus on instruction as well as work with their peers without being so distracting to their other classmates.
