Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have many students and families that are newcomers to our country. We want to help our students by providing hygiene kits. It's one less thing for our families to worry about. Our kits would include combs, rubber bands, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpastes, deodorant, tissue, hand sanitizer, band-aids and lip balms. These essential items can be costly for our newcomers, however, good hygiene can prevent illness and the spread of germs.
Good hygiene prevents students from missing school and increases their learning outcomes.
When students are in school, they are learning academic standards, building English language and developing peer relationships. Our newcomers are quiet and eager to be in school. Having hygiene essentials ready for them at any time can build self-confidence and most of all keep them in school!
