This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With your help, my students will have a meaningful service in our community by learning and growing sustainable gardens using hydroponic systems. This project is a Community Service project to support students and our community. The lesson investigation: conventional farming and the journey of food and the problems and irregularities to create sustainable crop production. After exploring Banana Story from the Iceland University of the Arts, students will investigate issues surrounding food exportation. Using “Hydroponics," we will grow plants using water and nutrients and observe the growth.

With your help, this will make a positive impact on their communities and the world.

They will use the hydroponic garden, iPad, laptop, garbage bags, and resources to help them research and investigate how to grow sustainable edible plants. With your help, this would be possible! My students are activists and leaders of change. This is a dream project that they can fulfill through investigation, research, and hard work with materials to assist them in researching how to grow greens and the progression of growing a garden indoors and creating a community garden. Urban farming and community gardens are vital for the community in the Bronx. It is important to help students in knowing how to grow greens and how beneficial this is for our community. In addition to this, students can help our community. It is important to ensure youth are prepared with skills and experiences to achieve their hopes and dreams and find innovative solutions to build a better world! Please help our students get the materials they need for change. Urban agriculture/community gardening in the Bronx has multiple roles, including health promotion, economic, environmental, and cultural. These roles are particularly important in light of urban sustainability issues and environmental justice.
