My Students

My students are from a small community in Jackson County, KY, where over 30% of our families are considered below the poverty level. These students are in grades 3rd through 8th and range in ages from 8 through 15.

Several students in our district have different types of family structures.

Some have divorced parents, live with grandparents or have other family members raising them or are foster children. For some of these children, football and the coaching staff are the only solid structure in their lives.

My Project

My team needs an ice machine to use during practices and games to keep cool and hydrated, also plenty of ice gets used for injuries in football also.

Each day our team goes through bags of ice to prevent overheating.

Also, as many people know there is a lot of ice used for injuries in football. We practice at the local park which is not located on school grounds. We have a building located at the park to keep our equipment in but it is not equipped with an ice maker. So, each day our coaches or parents volunteer to pack coolers with ice in them to the park for our players. With the number of players we have, this is a big task and can run into quite a bit of money during the season. An ice maker installed in this building would greatly help our team out.
