My Project

My high school students are working hard to build the skills they need for independence after graduation. During our summer programming, we focus on transition goals like travel training, community outings, and workplace readiness. These activities often take us off campus—riding public buses, navigating the community, and participating in real-world learning experiences.

With all of this movement, staying hydrated is essential—especially during the summer months.

Many of my students do not consistently have access to reusable water bottles, which can make long, active days uncomfortable and even unsafe in the heat.

This project will provide each student with a durable, reusable water bottle that they can use daily during summer school and beyond. Having their own bottle encourages responsibility, independence, and healthy habits. Students will learn to plan ahead by bringing their bottle, refilling it throughout the day, and taking care of a personal item—important life skills that support their transition into adulthood.

In addition to promoting health, reusable bottles also support environmentally responsible choices by reducing single-use plastic waste. This aligns with our goal of helping students become thoughtful, contributing members of their communities.
