Students from my senior economics and government classes participate in our Mountain Sports Club, which opens opportunities to explore nature and new environments outside of the regular classroom.
My students challenge themselves and conquer fears, rock climbing and trekking through the Sierras.
This is huge since our district is largely low income. Many of our students' families can not afford visits to the mountains.
They are excited to explore the world through adventure and hope to make the upcoming club bigger than ever.
We are increasing the number of students that hike and backpacking in our Mountain Sports and Environmental Science Academies. One problem we face at camp is being able to pump water for each group. We need additional gravity filters to accomodate people and trail systems for easy water access, like the Be Free bags.
Pumping water is the most time consuming task of any backpacking or hiking trip.
We want to minimize this time and have everyone connected to easy water sources for cooking and hydration. Especially on the go.
Most trips are split into pairs or threesome with each member carrying one essential item, such as a water filter or stove. With this donation, each group of 2-3 will have a water filtration system, dramatically helping the time it takes to make dinners and lunches. Thank you in advance.
