My Project

My classroom this year is in a portable trailer outside the main school building. Because the trailer is portable, it isn't hooked up to a water source. This means that the students will need to leave the classroom to fill water bottles or get a drink from the water fountain. I've spent several hours this summer creating a space that is positive and encourages meaningful learning experiences for my students. The only thing missing is a water source quickly available to students and me.

4th graders are eager and ready to learn!

This upcoming year, however, I'm concerned about learning being disrupted by frequent trips to the water fountain inside the main school building. I am requesting a water cooler "hydration station" for my classroom for a couple reasons: (1) keep the students healthy and hydrated and (2) keep the students in the classroom and focused on learning.

Staying hydrated will help students stay alert and focused on classroom tasks. This also increases engagement in lessons, collaboration, and independent practice.

Whenever a student leaves the classroom, it disrupts all students' focus. Students who leave are missing valuable instruction, and those students still in the classroom momentarily lose their focus from the instruction. A water cooler inside my trailer would reduce classroom disruptions and increase productive learning time.

Having a water cooler in the classroom will encourage students to hydrate. This promotes overall well-being and developing healthy habits.
