My Students

Spring will come again! My students like to learn by doing, and love to play in the dirt. Working in a vegetable garden, my students can experience the satisfaction that comes from caring for something over time, while observing the cycle of life.

My HEP (Hillside Enrichment Program) students are motivated, who express capacity for high performance in diverse areas of intelligence.

They scored high proficiency on the State Test. My students were sad to see that Hurricane Sandy had destroyed our vegetable garden, but destined to make it better and stronger this Spring!

My Project

School gardens are an essential educational tool. I look for new ways to teach children about the importance of eating a healthy diet and living a lifestyle that is environmentally friendly. Our school Garden is one of the best ways to motivate children to eat more vegetables and some fruits and to cut back on processed foods. My students enjoy the process of growing vegetables from the efforts of their own hands. Gardening gives children a chance to learn an important life skill, without the supplies to create a healthy garden, my students will miss out on that skill.

Planting edible gardens is one way to motivate students to eat healthier foods at school and take the idea home with them.

By educating children through the process of growing a garden will teach them healthy eating habits which can help a child maintain a healthy weight and normal growth.
