Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are amazing. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve our high expectations every day.
Our school is located in a low-income area with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Most of my students have limited resources outside of school, so our school may provide their only chance to experience enriching activities. My goal every year is to create an environment that is warm, safe, and welcoming while maintaining a fun, creative learning atmosphere.
My Project
The items I am requesting (Clorox wipes, visors, googley eyes, stickers, beads, and small healthy snacks to count that include raisins, popcorn, pretzels, cheerios, and teddy grams) will be used to help us celebrate the number sense and reading skills we have been building in a healthy way! Having these materials and the Clorox wipes will ensure that our tables are free of germs during this trying flu season. I try hard to develop cross-curricular activities for my students and the 100th Day of School is a perfect day to do this. Every year my students create different types of 100th-day necklaces using yarn and cereal. Although students normally love this activity, I always feel it is a shame that their creations are only able to last temporarily. I'd like to give my students the opportunity to create long-lasting souvenirs and provide healthy snacks to count this day.
I want to hopefully motivate students to keep working hard for the rest of the year.
Since my students are first graders this means their 100th Day with me will likely be the last one they have. It's important for my students to celebrate their successes with healthy, meaningful hands-on activities. Thanks for taking the time to read my project. I hope it sparked your interest.
