I teach Kindergarten at a Title I school. The majority of our students are on free or reduced-price lunch and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. A high percentage of the students in my class are ESOL, as well as some students with special needs.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, and I love to foster their uniqueness.
They all bring something special to our classroom. They have limited resources at home, and my goal is to provide them with the resources needed to succeed.
I teach at a school where the majority of my students come from low-income households. Many times they come to school hungry. Since we eat lunch early by the end of the day they are starving. On many occasions they mention that their tummies are growling and are lethargic. This project will touch a number of students especially my students with autism.
Many studies have shown that students can not concentrate if they are hungry.
In the middle of the day when I am teaching math they focus on their hunger instead of on the lesson. I believe that a midday snack will give them the boost they need to regain their energy.
