Fifth grade is an exciting time! My fifth grade students are growing up in busy city life. A majority of these students are first or second generation Americans and many are English language learners. As they experience their final year of elementary school, they are ready to explore and try new things!
They are eager to learn and thoroughly enjoy being immersed in new and creative ways of learning and hands-on activities.
With that being said, as their teacher, I want to give them the best educational opportunities I can, and that includes providing them with the materials they need to succeed. As I learn more about my students, I learn more about their needs and what suits them best.
My Project
My fifth graders use a great deal of brain power throughout their day. Some students do not eat nutritious breakfasts to start off their day, nor do they have healthy snacks during the day. In addition, many of my students receive free or reduced lunch. They often get very hungry and need more fuel to maintain them throughout the day.
Individually wrapped snacks like KIND bars, Nutri-grain bars, and other delicious varieties of snacks will be a quick and easy way for my students to receive a tasty and helpful brain boost for their day.
These wonderful treats will help make my students minds and bodies happy, healthy, and ready to work. In addition, these snacks can be handy for field trips to ensure all students have access to having their basic needs met.
