Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with an amazing group of first graders. The district I teach in is a Title I school district that serves a large population of low-income, migrant students where 100% of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and hardships; but no matter their situation, they come to school ready to learn with smiles on their faces. I am truly blessed to work with the kindest, resilient, and hardworking students. They never cease to amaze me.

My Project

Every student in my class receives free or reduced-price lunch. Many students will eat lunch at school and not eat again until breakfast the next day. My students some to school with odds stacked against them and the last thing they should have to worry about is being hungry.

Because of this, I would love to give them a snack toward the end of the day.

By the time the end of the day rolls around my students are tired and hungry. Their brains and bodies need just a little push to get through the day. By funding this project you are providing us with a healthy, happy, and not-so-hungry learning environment!
