This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When students are hungry it is hard to get them to focus and stay on task. Learning is not a priority when their tummies are rumbling. When working in centers or doing whole group lessons, it is important for the students to be engaged in the lesson and work with their peers. I like to save items from breakfast and stock up on snacks like granola bars, fruit cups, and popcorn when I run across a sale. I need a way to safely store refrigerator items, freeze popsicles, and pop popcorn.
Please help me purchase a small classroom refrigerator, microwave and shelf bins to safely store and prepare snack items for my students to ease their hunger pains.
It makes me sad that it comes to this, but it is a small way that I can make a difference to set my students up for success each day if they know that they can grab a quick snack when they are hungry.
