Help me give my students a hands-on experience to learn about their bodies as they grow! Human anatomy models (skeleton!) and social-emotional books will prepare kids to make healthy decisions about their bodies, manage emotions, and navigate relationships.
My students come from diverse economic backgrounds. We are all bound together by the Rocky Mountains and a love for healthy bodies and Physical Education! These elementary kids love to move and play and have a deep caring for each other, making each day a positive experience.
My students are kind, full of energy, and love to try new activities in my PE and Health classes.
We try together, fail together, and learn together. They are inspired to move as much as possible to boost their physical and emotional states as well as their academic performance.
My Project
We are creating a new elementary health class for grades 3-5 that will highlight body systems, healthy nutrition, changes through puberty, social-emotional health, healthy relationships, self-respect and self-confidence. The more students know about their body and how it works, the better equipped they will be to make sound decisions as they advance into upper elementary and middle/high school.
Students learn about their bodies effectively through hands-on experiences that encourage deep exploration and dissection.
The models, charts and books requested in this project will keep students engaged in health lessons that they can then apply during their Physical Education classes. Students will identify bones, learn about the different types of joints in the body, and experience muscle groups and how they operate. Students will learn about healthy nutrition and what the body needs to optimize health. We will tackle hygiene and caring for teeth as well!
