Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
At HR Middle School, we have two focuses this year: safety and restoring the academic integrity of our building. We are a PBIS school, and we want to offer some new, exciting initiatives for our students!
Our motto is: "Excellence Every Day, Nothing Less," and we are working, tirelessly, to build a climate and culture of academic excellence honoring our district motto, "Student-Centered...Future-Focused!"
Our students are excited about our new PBIS Cafe' that we are creating to provide a positive incentive for academic and behavioral success. We are hoping to fill a classroom with tvs, game consoles, pool tables, ping pong tables, etc., so students can be rewarded for their efforts. Many of the students struggle with meeting the expectations due to their environment outside of school. Despite the odds that are stacked against them, many show up each week eager to grow and do better. We want to provide a culture that celebrates small successes for all students.
My Project
Our students are working hard to help shift the culture of our school. They are becoming future-focused and productive citizens in our building. We are working hard to reward their hard work, and one of our initiatives is to create a PBIS Cafe' where students can experience a new, exciting reward for their academic and behavioral excellence! Our students are more than deserving of this! We have asked students what they would like to see in the cafe', and this project is just the beginning of fulfilling their requests.
