Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Keep the color coming. I am a school based speech language pathologist. My students were lucky enough to have received a color printer to create colored pictures to accompany their written assignments, writing prompts and young author projects. Those supplies are now running low.
90% of the students attending my school live their lives below the poverty line.
Resources are limited. Real life experiences are also limited. The students who I work with are speech and language impaired and receive special education services. Written work is often difficult and labor intensive. Once that work is complete I would like my students to have the opportunity to create their work with the use of a colored printer.
My Project
My students love to put highly visual, finishing touches on their research papers, writing assignments and projects. As our supplies begin to diminish my students have begun working on their "Young Authors" storybook creation project. This is completed by students of each grade. However, it is much more labor intensive for language based learning disabled students. Being able to create colored pictured work helps them as they continue to utilize descriptive language to complete their tasks.
Written expression and the ability to display those creations are very important for my students to see the fruits of their labor.
It is my hope that with the ability to illustrate their work in color they will display it with pride.
