My Students

I always say, "I have the best students in our school"! They love a challenge. So when I asked them, "How many lives could we save if we helped 200 students learn CPR"? They knew the challenge was coming!

My students all want to enter a healthcare profession some day.

They are focused and driven which isn't necessarily the case with all high school students. We have over 1,800 students at our suburban public school located on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Many of our students are eligible for free and reduced lunches and fee waivers. The students work hard and play hard. They enjoy envisioning what their lives will be like one day when their careers in healthcare become a reality.

I like to give my students opportunities to experience their dreams now by shadowing in the hospital, learning medical skills, and giving back to our school and community. Teaching other students CPR to other students is one way we can help our school and community.

My Project

My students will use the new CPR equipment to train 200 additional high school students in CPR this school year.

Students will learn to use the AED (automated external defibrillator), perform compressions on the mannequin, and follow the steps of CPR.

The masks will be used to instruct students going into the healthcare

professions on how to breathe for the victims of respiratory or cardiac arrest.

We would like to make a difference in our school by helping other students become prepared to respond in the event that CPR is ever needed. My health science students love to teach!
